I am blown away by all of the amazing pumpkins that were brought in last week. Students chose a favorite book of theirs and after completing a book report identifying each story element (main characters, setting, plot, problem, solution, etc.) they got to "make over" their pumpkin as the main character. It's amazing how much creativity their kiddos have in their little bodies.

This week, Tondee's Happy Campers were given a "Free Day" in P.E. with Coach Gray as an end of the 9 weeks reward! Needless to say... they had a BLAST! Coach Gray was so excited to share these pictures with me. She will also be posting them on her BDMA P.E. website!
Norman spent the weekend with Adam at the McMickle house. He even took his first trip to the baseball fields to cheer on Adam's team. He seemed a little warn out after such a fun and exciting weekend. I wonder what Norman's next adventure will be.
On Friday, October 9, 2015 the entire 2nd grade had an amazing opportunity to see a performance at the Springer Opera House. The well-known and loved children's book, Lily's Purple Plastic Purse, came to life on the stage. Students had a magnificent time seeing middle and high school students perform such a fun play. This was also a perfect time for students to make connections with the reader's theater we recently studied and performed in our own classroom. Needless to say, we had a
FABULOUS time. Norman spent the weekend with Blayd. I know the had a wonderful time and I was even lucky enough to get updates throughout the weekend. As most of us know, Saturday was the day of the BIG Georgia vs. Alabama football game. Unfortunately, my Bulldawgs did not do as well as I (and everyone other UGA fan) had hoped. But, Blayd made sure that Norman was pulling for the winning team.
I look forward to hearing and seeing more of Norman's Weekend Adventures with other special classmates/campers. During week 6 of Unit 1, our class worked on a Reader's Theater. The class enjoyed this activity so much. Each student had a part in the "play". We talked about scripts, stage presence, using our imagination, etc. We also had opportunities to watch a variety of productions including a few clips from the Tony Award winning show Wicked, a school productions of Aladdin, and other classroom Reader's Theaters.
